Dermot Brendan McCann
Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, my family moved to Canada when I was almost four. I grew up in Guelph, Ontario, often the student whose art was displayed on the classroom bulletin board. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Guelph in 1970 never having taken a single course in art. Since 1995 I have lived on my 41 ft. sailboat in one of Canada’s most scenic locations, the Inner Harbour of Victoria, British Columbia.
Self-taught in both areas of my creativity, I am a finishing carpenter/contractor by day and an artist ‘by heart.’
I never tire of the look that comes over someone’s face when I unveil a drawing that they have commissioned. In the most humble sense, I am truly thankful for the ‘gift’ of being able to bring such joy to people’s lives.
